Threatt named honorable mention all-conference

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Junior guard Demarcus Threatt has been named to the all-South Atlantic Conference Honorable Mention team after a vote of the league's coaches.

In his first season in royal blue and white after transferring from Division I Fairfield, Threatt proved himself to be among the South Atlantic Conference's elite players. He finished third in the league in scoring at 20.9 points per game, the second highest single-season scoring average in Brevard's NCAA-era history.

Threatt twice notched 36 points in a game to claim the third spot in Brevard's single-game scoring list. He topped the 20-point barrier 15 times this season scored at least 30 points on five occasions.

His contributions on the court went far beyond his scoring capabilities. The conference's leader in minutes and minutes per game, Threatt led the team and finished 10th in the league by making 48.4 percent of his field goal attempts. He finished second on the team in both assists (73) and steals (36), and paced the team with 56 three-point field goals made.

Threatt also finished third in the conference with 208 field goals made and sixth with 114 made free throws. He had several outstanding games this season, perhaps none bigger than his performance against Newberry in the season finale to end the careers of Brevard's three seniors on a winning note. He tied career highs with 36 points, seven rebounds, and 13 field goals made, set a new career high by connecting on five three-pointers, and was perfect from the free throw line. He also tallied as many as nine assists in a game this season.

Threatt's selection to the Honorable Mention team gives Brevard at least one player honored by the league's coaches for the fourth straight year and the seventh time in the Tornados' eight seasons in the conference.
