Gents surrender a goal in each half, falls to Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Junior goalie Rylan Whan recorded his 10th double-digit save game of his career, but Centenary (2-11, 1-8 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell 2-0 to Southwestern (5-9, 5-4 SCAC) Sunday afternoon in Georgetown, Texas.

Whan (2-9) grabbed seven saves in the first stanza en route to 11 saves for the game. It was his second-consecutive double-digit save game, the fourth of the season, and the 10th of his career. His 270 saves ranks second for a career in a in that category for a Gent, 172 behind the leader.

Southwestern outshot Centenary 23-8, including 13-1 in shots on goal. Chase Clark put the lone Maroon and White shot on target in the 76th minute, which led to a corner kick for Centenary. However, the Pirates were able to clear.

Jake Swonke scored the first half goal for Southwestern in the 36th minute while Alex Newell added insurance on his first goal of the season in the 81st minute.

Centenary returns to action against Trinity Friday at 8 p.m.
