Gents surrender two late goals, fall 3-0 to Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - Junior Gents goalie Rylan Whan tallied a double-digit save game for the ninth time in his career Friday night, October 9, but Centenary College (2-10, 1-7 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) allowed a trio of goals in the final 20 minutes in a 3-0 loss to Texas Lutheran (7-4, 4-4 SCAC) in Seguin Texas.

Whan (2-8), who came in to the game 16th in the nation at just a shade under eight saves per game, passed that total in the first half alone to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

The game stayed scoreless deep in the second half, but Centenary could not overcome playing a man short for the final 25 minutes of the game. Whan stopped the first 11 shots he faced in the game, but Texas Lutheran's Lalo Ramirez put a header in off a corner from Colin Nunley in the 74th minute. Ramirez would score the capper for the Bulldogs in the 88th minute.

Sophomore Ivann Amaya led the Gents with a shot on goal each half.

Texas Lutheran outshot Centenary 27-7, including 14-4 in shots on target.

The Gents return to action Sunday, October 11, at Southwestern. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
