Even first half goes way of Austin College in second as Centenary menā??s soccer loses 2-0

SHREVEPORT, LA - Neither team could find their footing in the first half after a rain delay before the game, but Centenary College (1-3, 0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) could only manage a pair of shots on goal to Austin College's (3-2, 1-0 SCAC) nine as the Gents fell to the Kangaroos, 2-0, Friday night at Mayo Field.

For the majority of the first half, the lone shot on target came off the foot of senior Jake Morrison in the game's opening minutes. However, Austin countered in the final five minutes when Brandon Harner shot found junior Centenary goalkeeper Rylan Whan (1-2).

In the 43rd minute, Juan Ramirez earned a penalty kick, but his shot sailed high as the teams went in to halftime scoreless.

It was a pair of goals nearly 20 minutes a part that gave the Kangaroos all the scores they needed. Juan Ramirez took a free kick from the left sideline, and found Phillip Le straight on in front of the goal for the first score of the game. In the 67th minute, a corner kick bounced off a Centenary College player and found Harroon Ismail for his first score of the season.

Whan took the loss in goal for the Gents, grabbing seven saves on nine shots faced. Michael Moran (1-2) captured the win in relief duty for Austin College, hauling in the only shot he faced in the second half.

The Gents return to action Sunday, September 13, when they take on Millsaps in Mississippi at 4 p.m.
