COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Gents soccer team could not overcome three goals in 11 minutes by the Tigers in the first half as Centenary College (2-9, 1-6 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Colorado College (8-1-2, 6-0-1 SCAC) 3-1 Sunday afternoon, October 4, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"We have to execute set pieces better defensively," said head coach Emmett Rutkowski. "Our second half was better, but we need to play a full 90 minutes to get a result. We cannot have 10 minute breaks in the middle of the game."

Down 3-0 in the 42nd minute, it was a trio of Centenary seniors that scored its loan goal. Michael Pullano took a throw-in and found John Vasquez on the right side of the field. Vasquez switched fields, and senior Jake Morrison's header from 10 yards out found the back of the net to cut the deficit to two shortly before half. The goal was Morrison's first of his collegiate career.

Sophomore goalie Kaleb Behm played the second half for the Gents and held Colorado College scoreless with two saves, but the Maroon and White did not score as the Tigers claimed the two goal win.

Colorado College used a 10-0 advantage in corners, including scoring the game-winning goal when Cam Stopforth's corner found Nathan Andersen in the 25th minute. The Tigers also used a 28-5 advantage in shots.

Junior Rylan Whan (2-7) took the loss in goal for Centenary, grabbing six saves in the first half. Theo Hooker (8-1-2) took the win for Colorado College, grabbing a save on two shots faced.

The Gents return to action Friday night against Texas Lutheran in Seguin, Texas, at 7 p.m.
