Men?s Soccer prepares for SAC quarterfinal tilt with Carson-Newman

BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College's men's soccer team will play in its first postseason match since the 2010 season on Tuesday, Nov. 3 when they travel to No. 1 seed Carson-Newman.

The Tornados have had a record-setting season, as the team posted the highest winning percentage since Brevard joined the NCAA in 2008 and recorded the most South Atlantic Conference wins in program history. The five wins tied the NCAA era mark for most wins in a season.

Brevard has established itself as one of the premier defenses in the SAC this season, posting the lowest goals allowed average in conference matches at 0.78 while tying Wingate for the least amount of goals allowed in league games with nine. Overall, the royal blue and white finished the regular season allowing 1.20 goals per game, a program-record and fifth lowest in the conference. Junior Heath Turner has been paramount to the defense as he leads the conference and ranks 27th in Division II with a .809 save percentage.

In the regular season matchup, then-ranked 13th Carson-Newman defeated the Tornados 1-0. Brevard hung in the match the entire 90 minutes, keeping the potent Eagles offense off the scoreboard until a goal in the 84th minute propelled them to the win. It was the first time in the 2015 season that a SAC team held Carson-Newman to one goal while the goal in the 84th minute was the latest the Eagles scored its first goal of the match all season.

Carson-Newman will be providing live stat and video links for tonight's contest.
