Busy Weekend Awaits Gents and Ladies

SHREVEPORT, LA - It will be a busy weekend as seasons start to collide for the Centenary College athletic teams.

To kick off the weekend, the Gents' soccer team (2-7, 1-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) battles Dallas in a key conference showdown Friday afternoon, October 2, at 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be available.

Junior goalie Rylan Whan ranks eighth in the country with 8.57 saves per game, which easily leads the conference.

The Ladies soccer team (1-8, 0-5 SCAC) also battles Dallas shortly after the conclusion of the men's contest. Live stats and video will be available.

On Saturday, tennis and swimming will take center stage in Shreveport. From 9-11 a.m., tennis and head coach Jeffrey Herr will host a clinic for the Centenary College community, followed by a "Serving Fall" mini doubles tournament at the Centenary tennis courts.

The Gents and Ladies swimming teams, who kick off the regular season next Saturday, October 10, at Trinity, will host an alumni/intrasquad meet beginning at one in the fitness center.

Volleyball takes a pair of weeks off from SCAC play, beginning Saturday, when they make the short jog down I-20 to take on both East Texas Baptist (Live Video - Live Stats) at 3 p.m., and LeTourneau (Live Video - Live Stats) at 5 p.m., in Longview, Texas.

On Sunday, the Gents soccer team takes on Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Live stats are available by clicking here.

Closing out the weekend on Monday will be the Ladies golf team in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Southern Showdown. Freshman Jessica Varner captured the SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week honors on Wednesday, September 30.
