Men?s soccer drops home opener

BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College's men's soccer team opened up the 2015 home schedule on Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Southern Wesleyen. With the loss BC drops to 0-3 on the season.

After allowing three goals in the opening half, allowing only htree shots over the final 45 minutes of play. Andrew Gallowitch and Winston Haddock both attempted quality shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Ruben Rodriguez saved both of them to prevent a Tornado goal. Gallowitch got a follow up shot off Haddock's kick, but it went over the goal.

In the 76 th minute of action Southern Wesleyan (2-1) scored the fourth and final goal of the contest on a unassisted shot from Marcelo Vargas.

The Warriors scored the opening goal in the 18th minute off a blast from Christian Taylor. In the 29th minute Southern Wesleyan had a chance to extend the lead with three consecutive corner kicks, deflected each time by the Brevard defense. The effort prolonged the scoring as Sebastian Castro scored a pair of goals for SWU to make it a 3-0 contest going into the intermission.

Brevard outshot the visitors 12-10, with half the shots on target. Gabriel Garcia led the offense with two shots, both on goal. Gallowitch, Haddock and Shawn Shoenfeld all took two shots while Camilo Sosa took one shot on goal.

Heath Turner was the starting goalie for Brevard and tagged with the loss. Jordan Alread played the majority of the second half before drawing a red card that forced him out of play.

Brevard is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 12 when the Tornados host Lander at 1 p.m.
