Kirkendoll Nabs Second SCAC Player of the Week Honor of Season

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Sophomore guard Travion Kirkendoll grabbed Men's Basketball Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season on Monday, January 18.

"We are extremely proud of Travion's performance on the weekend," said head coach Adam Walsh. "One of our focal points for him going in to the season was the efficiency from the field, and he definitely got back on track with that this weekend. He continues to fight through mid-season wear and tear, and he does it with a great attitude every day."

In a pair of road conference wins for the Gents this past weekend, Kirkendoll scored 22.5 points and grabbed 8.5 rebounds. He shot 15-for-28 (53.6 percent) from the field, including 6-for-7 (85.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Kirkendoll also went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Kirkendoll narrowly missed a double-double at Austin College with 27 points and nine rebounds in a Maroon and White 79-71 win Friday, January 15. He also grabbed a pair of steals and dished out two assists. In the 87-78 win at Dallas Saturday, January 16, Kirkendoll led a balanced Gents scoring attack with 18 points and eight rebounds, including draining all four shots taken from behind the arc taken.

Increasing his average to 7.1 rebounds per game, he now sits seventh in the SCAC, and second among guards, in boards per game.

For the season, Kirkendoll leads the conference in both points (21.3 points per game) and steals (36), and sits 40th and 26th in the country, respectively.

Centenary returns to action this weekend for a pair of crucial road SCAC contests against Southwestern and conference-leading Texas Lutheran.
