Summer Starting to Heat up for 2016 Centenary Camps

SHREVEPORT, La. - There will be numerous opportunities to participate in summer camps in the upcoming weeks at Centenary.

The Diamond Gents recently began their weekly camps throughout the summer this past Monday, May 23. For the next four weeks, Centenary baseball staff and players will be offering instruction to children age 5-14 in all parts of the game. The $145 fee will include lunch and a t-shirt.

After a Tuesday, May 31 - Friday, June 3 camp, the following three weeks, the camp will be held Monday-Thursday. Day camps will also be offered for kids aged 5-14 in July.

Basketball camps also begin the week of Memorial Day with a Ladies and Gents Skills Camp May 31-June 2 for both boys and girls aged 5-14. Cost is $75, and the camp goes 9 a.m.-noon for boys and 1-4 p.m. for girls. A day camp (boys and girls aged 5-12, $150 with lunch ) advanced skills camp (boys and girls going into their freshman-senior years in high school) and a shooting camp (boys and girls aged 8-14) will be available in late June and in July. Soccer camps will return to Centenary the first full week in June and will run through the middle of July. The first camp will be the Advanced Youth Camp June 6-9 and are for boys and girls, aged 5-9. The focus is on technique and the goal is to instill in young players the skills needed to become more successful soccer players. Cost is $125 and registration is available at www.centenarysoccercamps.com

Finally, Centenary and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be offering a Bible Camp at the Centenary Tennis courts July 12-15. The camp will take place 4:30-6:30 p.m. and are for children aged 4:30-6:30 p.m. Participants will be given excellent instruction from Centenary College tennis head coach, Jeffery Herr. Campers will also be given a bible, a devotional, and a t-shirt at the end of the day. The purpose of this camp is to develop student-athletes physically, mentally, and spiritually.
