Menā??s soccer rally comes up short in 2-1 loss to Millsaps

JACKSON, MS - The Centenary men's soccer team (1-4) tried to rally late, but a single tally by sophomore Ivann Amaya was not enough as the Gents fell to Millsaps (4-1) 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Gents found themselves outshot 21-3 overall and 8-1 in shots on goal, but Centenary made the most of its one shot on target. In the 84th minute, freshman Nick Hammond decided to take the corner awarded to the Maroon and White. He sent the ball in and it bounced around to Amaya, who netted his team-leading third goal of the season.

The home team struck first 23:14 in the game, when Nat Edwards' corner found the head of Starusky Daniel. The Gents were held to one shot in the first period. Millsaps scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 48th minute when Elmhammar Lukas scored on a penalty kick.

Sophomore Kaleb Beham (0-2) saved 6-of-8 shots faced in the game while Millsaps Edwards Charlie took the win in his first full game of the season in goal.

The Gents return to action Friday, September 18, when they return to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play to take on Texas Lutheran. Kickoff on the pitch at Mayo Field is set for 7 p.m.
